Our best ever pumpkin soup recipes

Treat yourself to the ultimate autumn supper of creamy pumpkin soup using our quick and easy recipes. We have many variations on this classic comfort food.

Baked pumpkin with spoon and bread
It wouldn't be autumn without a healthy dose of pumpkin in our favourite soups, stews, tagines and traybakes. We love this brightly coloured squash, whether we're carving it into a spooky lantern or mixing it into a stunning celebration cake. However, our all-time favourite pumpkin recipe has to be a simple soup with plenty of warming spices and a slice of rustic homemade bread.

Classic pumpkin soup

For a dinner party starter, or when you need a comforting autumn supper, try this silky, simple soup. A veggie's dream, it's freezable, too, if you need an easy midweek meal. We recommend serving with crunchy croutons and a sprinkling of pumpkin seeds for added texture.

Thai pumpkin soup

Add a touch of lemongrass, ginger, chilli and creamy coconut milk for a Thai twist on the traditional pumpkin soup. The coconut milk adds a thick, smooth texture and the warming spices are perfect for cool winter evenings. For an extra decadent flourish, add a dollop of soured cream on top.

Pumpkin & lentil soup

This healthy squash speciality is low-fat and easily prepped in 15 minutes. If you're carving a pumpkin for Halloween, this is a great use for the flesh and seeds, so nothing goes to waste. Feel free to add other seasonal veggies such as sweet potato or butternut squash.

Pumpkin & bacon soup

Pumpkin & bacon soup with seeds
We recommend using a Crown Prince pumpkin for this indulgent soup. Chicken stock, double cream and pieces of maple-cured bacon make this rich recipe perfect for impressing dinner party guests. Garnish with a drizzle of maple syrup and a few scattered pumpkin seeds.

Roast pumpkin with cream, thyme & parmesan

Baked pumpkin with spoon
Why not go the whole hog and serve up your soupy squash starter in the pumpkin shell? This one would be great for a Halloween party and is as decadent as it gets. The cream, garlic and thyme will infuse the flesh during baking. Guests can help themselves to a scoop of the pumpkin with cheesy cream filling – just make sure you have enough crusty bread to mop up all the goodness.
